You are reading this website: thank your EYES.
Sight along with hearing, smell, taste, and touch are the five senses that enable us to appreciate our environment. Your eyes provide sight by creating an image of the object you are looking at which is recognised by your brain.
Eye examinations
Complete eye examinations are conducted by qualified optometrists at all our branches. This is called refraction.
- Detection of refractive error through computerised auto-refractometer
- Screening of complications through ophthalmoscope
- Retinoscopy
- Keratometry
- Slit-lamp screening
- Colour vision testing
- Ocular mobility and reflex examinations
- Screening for amblyopia

You need spectacles: What does it mean?
If you need spectacles, it means that the image you see is flawed because of poor eye sight. Opticians measure Visual Acuity (eye sight) by testing how you see an object placed at a distance of 20 feet (6 metres). You may need spectacles because you are shortsighted. This means that you cannot see far-off objects clearly, but you can see close up. Another cause of poor vision is longsightedness, when you can see far, but not close. Finally, needing glasses for reading is a natural process that everyone faces. This condition is called presbyopia and is caused by natural ageing of the eye, which leads to the inability to focus on close objects.
